Small Office Network Setup Based on Workgroup
A Workgroup-based network was implemented in a small office with 8 computers, featuring structured cabling using CATcables, Windows 10 installation on all systems, and the configuration of an Izabel server (acting as DHCP and VoIP server). After testing network and internet connectivity, local users were created, and file/printer sharing was configured. All steps—from cabling to final configuration—were completed in 2 working days, and the network was successfully delivered.

Implementation Steps:

1. Network Cabling:
– Structured cabling using CAT5 cables.
– Installation of 8 network ports at workstations.
– Testing all cables with a network tester (all ports OK).

2. Izabel Server Setup:
– Installation of Izabel Server on dedicated hardware.
– Configuration of roles:
– DHCP Server (for automatic IP assignment).
– VoIP Server (for centralized telephony).

3. Windows Installation on Clients:
– Installation of Windows 10 on all 8 systems.
– Activation using free licenses.
– Installation of essential drivers for each system.
– Configuration of computer names (PC01 to PC08).
– Print Server setup (for shared printer management).

4. Workgroup Network Configuration:
– All systems set to a Workgroup named “OFFICE”.
– IP configuration set to automatic (DHCP).
– Testing server and internet connectivity.

5. Internet Setup:
– Connecting an ADSL/VDSL modem to a MikroTik router.
– Configuring internet sharing via the router.
– Setting access restrictions (if required).

6. Final Configuration:
– Creation of local users on each system.
– Configuration of file and printer sharing.
– Antivirus installation.
– Initial system backup.

Equipment Used:

– 16-port Gigabit switch

Tests Performed:
